Ludwigsburg and Sommer Fest

I can't believe that this was my fifth week here in Stuttgart! This coming week is my final week of summer camp work before I start my induction week for all teachers next week. Only one more week of summer left!

This week's summer camp field trip was to Ludwigsburg, a town about 25 minutes outside of the main part of Stuttgart, where we took the kids to explore the castle grounds and the various different activities/areas they had for kids. The kids and I explored the fairy tale garden section, took a small boat ride around the fairy tale section, as well as climbed up the hill to see Rapunzel's tower. The tower even has Rapunzel let down her hair, if you say (in German, of course), 'Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair'. All of the kids seemed to have a really great time at the castle and of course, on the way back to school, we stopped for a scoop of ice cream at the local eis cafe near the U-bahn station.

On Friday night, a whole group of summer camp staff/interns met up near the main station in Schlossplatz for the annual Stuttgarter Sommer Fest. There were tons of different food and drink vendors, as well as live bands playing in different sections of the area. However, it was extremely busy (being that it was Friday night and an annual festival). We all had a great time together and ended up finding some grass to sit on across from the Operhaus, which was so beautiful, once the sun had gone down.
